The Hendrick Hudson Chapter, NSDAR, is pleased to announce that they were awarded a Technical Assistance Grant through the Preservation League of New York State.
“We are so lucky to have gotten this grant with the stiff competition out there,” said Mrs. Jeane LaPorta, Regent for the Hendrick Hudson Chapter. She also noted that this grant shows the organization’s deep respect for the Daughters of the American Revolution, as well as the Robert Jenkins House.
The House, constructed in 1811, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has served as the hub for Hudson’s DAR chapter since 1900. The aforementioned grant will allow the chapter to hire someone to complete a building condition survey, from which the chapter will gain a thorough understanding of the house’s needs. This will serve as the jumping off point for repairs and maintenance of the Robert Jenkins House.
